This eco-resort hotel overlooking Avila Bay is being designed to be LEED Platinum equivalent. 45 guest cottages settle into a gently sloping site and include generous outdoor living areas, each with a fireplace and whirlpool spa. The individual units are designed using a "beach cottage" theme - generous windows for views and natural light. A separate Clubhouse complex includes a restaurant, meeting facilities, pool, spa and four private villas. To avoid the appearance of a monolithic structure, the complex is spread out on three levels that step down the hillside using a funicular to access to level. Green vegetated roofs insulate the interior and visually integrate the buildings into the landscape. |
